Career History
I got into web development when my band needed a website. I kept tinkering with web technologies for a few years and started offering my services to small local businesses. I got my first career break with World Reach Inc. They were, more or less, a spam company (back when that was cool, ha). I wasn’t there very long.
After that, I got a more grounded and realistic break with PlasticSurgery.com. This is where I grew a lot as programmer. I was very lucky to work under a number of mentors, all of whom have gone on to bigger and better things. I spent 2 years at PlasticSurgery before moving on.
This is when I made my move to New York. I found DoubleClick Inc. right away and worked there for a year as lead engineer of corporate applications. That was an awesome job because it exposed me to all the things that come with multi-billion dollar companies. Now I know how to do a lot of things the “enterprise way”. I also learned the fine art of the “corporate meeting” and how to handle business owners all by myself.
I’ve done LOTS of freelance work in web and software development. I take advantage of that today as a I continue to live as a freelance developer.
